How the calculator works

To calculate the age of a tree manually, we need to multiply the trunk diameter at breast (DBH) by the growth factor for that tree species.

Step 1: Measure the trunk’s circumference at chest height and divide by Pi (3.14) to get the diameter.

Step 2: Then, you multiply the tree’s diameter by the tree species’ growth factor1
